What this document covers and what it leaves out

This document describes the personal information practices of fcmabrokerau.com, an independent editorial resource that publishes reviews and commentary about the broker FXCM for readers in Australia. It covers what happens when you visit the site, read its pages, follow a link from it, or send a message through the contact form on this site.

It does not cover anything that happens on the broker's own website or inside any account you may hold there. This site is not the broker, is not affiliated with the broker, and does not provide financial services, open accounts, accept deposits, or give advice. When you follow a link away from this site, the privacy policy of the destination site applies, and you should read it before giving that site any information.

The site is editorial in nature. Nothing here is a record of your trading activity, your holdings, or your finances, because the site never receives that kind of information from you.

Collect what the site needs and nothing more

When you browse, the site's servers automatically log technical data that any web server records: the requested page, the time of the request, the referring page, an approximate location derived from the network address, the browser and device type, and the network address itself. This data is used to serve pages, keep the site secure, diagnose faults, and understand in aggregate which reviews are read.

The site does not ask you for your name, your date of birth, your identity documents, your bank or card details, your account credentials, or your trading history, and it has no function that would accept them. If you choose to write through the contact form on this site, you decide what to include; a working reply address is useful, and you should not send sensitive material.

Cookies and similar storage are used for the basics of running the site and for measurement. You can block or clear them in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may then behave less smoothly.

Measure readership in aggregate and set the legal basis

Readership measurement is configured to produce aggregated statistics: page views, session counts, rough country-level location, referral sources, and device categories. These figures are used to decide which reviews to update and how to present them. The site does not use this data to build individual profiles for advertising, and it does not sell reader data.

The legal basis for the processing described in this policy is the legitimate interest of running and improving an editorial publication, which includes keeping it secure and understanding its audience in aggregate. Where the law requires consent, for example for non-essential cookies, that consent is requested and can be withdrawn at any time through the cookie controls or your browser settings. Where processing is needed to respond to a message you send, the basis is your request and the site's interest in answering it.

Store records on servers and share them only with service providers

The site and its measurement tools run on servers operated by hosting and infrastructure providers, which may be located outside Australia, including in the European Union and the United States. Those providers process data on the site's instructions and under contract, and they may not use it for their own purposes. Access inside the site's operation is limited to those who need it to publish and maintain the site.

Recipients of personal data are therefore limited to hosting, security, and measurement providers, plus professional advisers where strictly necessary, and public authorities where the law requires disclosure. The site does not name other brokers, platforms, or partners and does not pass reader data to the broker reviewed here or to any marketer.

Retention is kept to what the purposes require. Server logs are kept for a short period, normally weeks rather than years, and are then deleted or aggregated. Measurement data is retained in aggregate form. Messages sent through the contact form are kept only as long as needed to deal with the enquiry and any follow-up, and are then removed.

Exercise your rights through the contact form on this site

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask whether the site holds personal data about you, to receive a copy, to have errors corrected, to have data erased, to restrict or object to processing, and to receive data in a portable format. You may also withdraw consent to cookies at any time without affecting processing that already took place.

To use any of these rights, write through the contact form on this site and describe what you want. Requests are handled within the period the applicable law sets, and you will be told if more information is needed to identify the records concerned. If you believe your data has been mishandled, you may complain to the privacy regulator in your jurisdiction; in Australia this is the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

This policy may be updated to reflect changes in how the site operates. The current version is always the one published on this page, and material changes will be noted on the site.
